New Toys!

Hey all -

This week we have launched the first round of updates to the MuseCube service.

From the top - we've revised the site navigation, adding the most frequently used sections to the top nav. Other sections of the site are still accessible via the home page, on the left nav.

The biggest update we have made thus far is to the image search section.

Throughout the site, you'll find new navigation options attached to image thumbnails (represented three dots, below "like"). This allows you to search for "similar images", and also indicate if there is an image you aren't interested in.

It's important to note that your image "dislike" preferences are not public, they are simply stored so that we don't serve up images that you don't like in the searches, as well as it helps us to build a profile of what you do and don't like visually.

This comes into play when first visiting the image search section, where you'll be presented with images that we recommend based on your "like" history.

These functions operate off of a content analysis of each image on the site, as well as analysis of dominant tones in the images. We have cataloged every image on MuseCube using this system. I have to say that it has been interesting playing with these new tools - there's a lot of really great work out there!

We will continue developing the search features with our next round of updates, coming very soon.

Lastly, we have made a number of UI / visual / usability improvements throughout the site. Those that have been with us awhile know that some sections of MuseCube go back many years, and we have begun retooling some of those sections to make them feel... a little more modern :)
